Never before has an American President referred to the people whom he is elected to serve as “enemies” yet that is precisely the word Barack Obama used to describe nearly half of the American people.  From a numerical standpoint that is nearly 150,000,000 Americans — considered “enemies” by Mr. Obama!

Our ability to now look back over 5 years under the Obama regime affirms that words and ideologies have consequences.  

When Obama promised on the eve of his first election that he would “fundamentally transform” America, many of us understood the threat of these words.  While we could not precisely predict just how Saul Alinsky’s most prominent disciple would follow through on his transformational promise, we knew that the America we loved and the values we cherished would come under vicious attack – not from without but rather from within with the full force of the most powerful man in the world – the President of the United States.

Since the numerous scandals began to surface, Obama and his team have consistently claimed ignorance, deflected blame or treated concern or inquiry with contempt.  Truman’s famous slogan “The buck stops here” is now “The buck stops… there!” under Obama.

It’s interesting how the IRS scandal has been blamed on a couple of “rogue agents in Cincinnati.”  Yet, let’s remember Obama’s own words.  His reference to tea party members and other conservatives as “enemies” should not be dismissed.

Consider that when a child grows up in a home where racism and hatred is routinely exhibited by his father, no one is surprised when that child bullies or attacks his classmates who are members of the targeted race.  While the child should be punished, no one would excuse the father for his role in contributing to the child’s behavior.  Rather, the father should be held to an even higher level of accountability – given his role as head of the household and the one setting the values of the family.

Likewise, when Obama routinely targets and attacks certain Americans simply because they oppose his Marxist patterned policies, should we simply blame the subordinate members of his administration?  Of course not!  Yet that is what the President and his minions would have us believe – that Obama’s words and behavior are harmless and have no bearing on the denial of Americans’ constitutional rights by his administration.

The truth is Obama should be held personally accountable for the direct and coordinated assault on conservative Americans who simply chose to exercise their rights enumerated to them in the 1st, 4th and 5th Amendments.

Obama’s actions, words and behavior set the tone for his administration and signaled to federal agencies and employees that conservatives were fair game.  In fact, I would contend that for Obama’s subordinate agencies to not target his opponents would be to reject Obama’s expectations.

During Obama’s regime, we have seen all out attacks on freedom of religion, freedom of speech and press, the right to peacefully assemble and petition our government, the right to bear arms, our right to privacy, the right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, and our right to not be deprived of life, liberty and property.

Yet, are these the sole threats?   No!

I contend these various assaults on individual rights asserted in our Constitution are merely symptoms of a much great threat.

That threat?  The enemy within!

Every student of history knows that the enemy most dangerous and lethal is not the one that is outside of the camp but rather the one that is within. And if these growing scandals reveal anything to us, it is that any government or administration that would seek to deny the citizens of their constitutional and unalienable rights is most certainly the greatest threat.

So what is the solution?  Plain and simple: Fight fire with fire.

So long as Republicans play “T-ball” while radical leftists play “hardball” Liberty will lose and our unalienable rights enumerated in the Constitution will slip through our grasp.

Case in point:  In March 2012 a group of 12 Republican Senators penned a letter to the IRS demanding answers to the allegations by numerous constituents that the IRS was targeting them and/or their groups.  Yet a year later, in a meeting I personally attended with Senator McConnell’s staff, I learned that the IRS ignored the letter and never responded to it.  Amazingly, no punitive response was taken by these Senators towards the IRS.

Here is the reality though:  Congress holds the power of the purse.  The IRS requires funding to operate.  If an agency refuses to come clean to Congress then cut off their funding!  Yes, that is hardball but it’s a strategy that must be employed when one understands that the battle in which we are engaged is for the very survival of our Constitutional Republic.

While this will take fortitude, something all too uncommon in Washington today, it is what these dire times demand.  While politicians abandon principle to avoid controversy, statesmen defend principle in spite of controversy.
