Opting out of my Faith: Not Optional

I am growing sick, tired and saddened over the aggressive discrimination, attacks and overt bigotry towards Christians and those who hold to an orthodox theology that has been in place for over 5,000 years that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. Up until a few years ago, this orthodox view was (and perhaps still is) mainstream in America. (And for the record, holding to the orthodox view of marriage is not akin to slavery or racism, so please don't even devolve to such a silly Read more [...]

Bob Corker Devolves on Same-Sex Marriage

“Devolve:  to degenerate or deteriorate gradually; to change gradually for the worse; decline; deteriorate." Ten years ago Bob Corker, former Chattanooga Mayor, was meeting with his staff and advisors to formulate a strategy that would enable him to move from local politics to one of the highest profile stages in the nation.  As Bob met with his team they discussed policy issues, formulated strategies, and staked out the positions he sensed would enable him to prevail in his goal to win the position Read more [...]

Confusing Equality: When Two Doesn’t Equal Two

Following Thursday’s vote on the Domestic Partnership Ordinance referendum, I want to thank the citizens of Chattanooga for showing up at the polls to express their will on such an important issue.  Whether you were For or Against the ordinance, the fact that you shared your views, campaigned for your cause and voted your conscience reflects what our Founders desired:  an active citizenry engaged in directing their government.  And contrary to the voices of some, I, along with the hundreds Read more [...]

Vote AGAINST the Domestic Partnership Ordinance: An Issue of Faith, Finance, and Fairness

The Puzzling Omission in Weston Wamp’s website

In my desire to be an informed voter I routinely look to a candidate’s “Issues” page on their website in order to understand what it is they believe and what they value… or at least what they claim to value.  But one can often find that what is openly stated on a candidate's website can at times be as important as what is left unsaid. Over the years, I have gleaned a lot by this review. So I found it both interesting and informative when I recently reviewed the websites for the two Read more [...]

Radical Homosexuals, SunTrust Bank & the Benham Brothers

This week SunTrust Bank notified David and Jason Benham that the bank was severing business ties with the brothers following the recent protest by radical homosexual fascists over the brothers' support of marriage...  as in the union of one man and one woman for life.  Following an uproar from customers though, SunTrust announced it was reversing its decision. Recall that just a few days ago the Benham brothers were “punished” by HGTV for having the audacity to believe in marriage as between Read more [...]
